PowerChute Serial Shutdown report communications not established with UPS when installed on Linux OS.

Issue:

PowerChute Serial Shutdown version 1.3

Communications are not established after disconnecting and reconnecting the UPS from the Server.

PowerChute Serial Shutdown versions prior to v1.3 and all versions of PowerChute Business Edition.

Communications are not established after installation.

Products:

PowerChute Business Edition

PowerChute Serial Shutdown

Environment:

All supported Linux OS running PowerChute Serial Shutdown.

Solution:

For PowerChute Serial Shutdown version 1.3

If communications are not established after disconnecting and reconnecting the UPS, then restart the daemon or the Operating System.  The daemon can be stopped with one of the following commands (OS dependent):

/etc/init.d/PBEAgent stop

service pbeagent stop

systemctl stop PBEAgent

And started again with one of the following:

/etc/init.d/PBEAgent start

service pbeagent start

systemctl start PBEAgent

PowerChute Serial Shutdown versions prior to v1.3 and all versions of PowerChute Business Edition.

If communications are not established after installation, disconnect all USB devices. Re-connect the UPS first, then other USB devices.

/etc/init.d/PBEAgent stop

service pbeagent stop

systemctl stop PBEAgent

And started again with one of the following:

/etc/init.d/PBEAgent start

service pbeagent start

systemctl start PBEAgent

Older versions of PowerChute Serial Shutdown

If communications are not established after installation, disconnect all USB devices. Re-connect the UPS first, then other USB devices.
