How do I set my Magelis terminal clock from the PLC with 984 Ladder Logic?

GOALS AND SYMPTOMS

The purpose of this resolution is to provide users with an explanation of how to set the Magelis terminal clock from the PLC with 984 Ladder Logic.

CAUSES AND FIXES

In this example the first register for the controllers 'Time of Day' clock has been set to 401793. The screen where this register is set is dependent on the programming software used to configure the controller. The programming software's help screen or user manual should be able to direct you there.

The table above shows the eight TOD registers in the controller.

The table above shows the four TOD registers for the Magelis terminals.

The Magelis dialog table must be configured the include the function 'Set Terminal Clock'. The four registers for the Magelis TOD are in this example 400100 - 400104.

The logic above moves the eight TOD registers in the controller to the four registers the Magelis is polling for it's clock values.

The value in seconds, hour, month, and 20 (century) are multiplied by 256 thus moving them to the high byte.
They are then OR'ed with the values for day of week, minute, day of month, and year.

The results of these OR'ed values are then moved with SUB blocks to the registers which the Magelis is polling for the TOD.
