Full Modbus control of LXM28 is not possible because Modbus control words are not part of the firmware design.
However, it is possible to read and write parameters via Modbus
This means it is possible to create motion via Modbus however full control the drive via the Modbus channel is not possible
This is due to the fact that there are no Modbus objects available on LXM28 for the "ControlWord" and also no control words available for the "ModesOfOperation" via Modbus.
It is possible to create some simple motion using Modbus because it is possible to write via Modbus and activate the digital inputs on and off, this is covered in the attached PDF file.
Customers looking to control LXM28 via Magelis will need to choose a model that supports integrated CANopen master, (such as XBTGC or SCU) to control LXM28 via Magelis.
Magelis such as XBTGC and SCU are implemented into SoMachine and therefore the LXM28-PLCopen Library can be used.
