How to get traps via SNMP in ION9000

Issue

ION9000 with V3.0.0 firmware, SNMP is configured however unable to receive alarms via SNMP.

The following modules are enabled and configured, Alarm Options Module and SNMP Options module. The Ethernet Communications module has "Enable SNMP" set to Yes. The meter's MIB file has also been uploaded into the NMS.

Meter values can be read using MIB Browser Enterprise Edition-30 day trial edition, however not receiving the alarm trap.

There are a few items to check.

1) MIB Browser Enterprise settings

A) Go to the SNMP trap Receiver (Crtl + i), click on the Trap Receiver Settings. Be sure to note the Trap Port, default is 162. For testing, likely will want the Bind IP to be set to "All", Transport "UDP". The check boxes could be different settings based on customer needs.

2) Meter settings

A) SNMP is enabled
B) Enable SNMP Traps is enabled
C) Desired alarm priorities are set to Yes
D) Trap Rcvr1 AddrX is the IP address and port for the computer monitoring traps

You can configure SNMP trapping using your meter’s webpages.
Download the ION MIB file from www.se.com.
1. Connect to your meter’s webpages.
2. Go to Setup > SNMP Parameters.
3. Configure your meter’s SNMP parameters by selecting the parameter value.

4. Click Apply to configure the meter’s SNMP parameters.

If the default Report Hold Time wasn’t changed, wait for 30s then MIB Browser will receive the trap info in the trap receiver. The Report Hold Time range is 1~300 seconds.
