How to configure alarms on the PM800 meter.
Issue
A customer wants to set up an alarm on the PM800 meter.

NOTE: For custom alarms, you will need the PM820, 850, or 870
Information on the alarms can be found in chapter 6 of the PM800 User Guide (attached to this article)

To set the pulsing to an alarm, first configure the alarm you want:
For example: To configure a Current Loss Alarm. (Note that the Current Loss Alarm is a setpoint driven alarm)

Follow the steps below to set up the desired alarm:
On the front display:
  1. Press the arrow button to scroll through the Level 1 menu until you see MAINT.
  2. Press MAINT.
  3. Press SETUP.
  4. Enter your password (NOTE: The default password is 0000.),  then press OK. The SETUP MODE screen will be displayed.
  5. Press the arrow button: to scroll through the setup features until ALARM is visible and select it.
  6. Press left or right arrow buttons to scroll through your alarms until you see Current loss.
  7. Press EDIT when you reach your desired alarm type.
  8. Use the + button to change the available settings and the OK button to navigate from top to bottom from:
  • Status: ENABL / DISAB (You will set this to ENABL to enable the alarm)
  • Priority (PR): NONE/HIGH/MED/LOW
  • Pickup Setpoint (PU MAG): Set this to your current (in amperes) limit to trigger the alarm on
  • Pickup Delay (PU DELAY): Set this to the time duration (in seconds) the load is allowed to exceed the pickup setpoint before being triggered.
  • Dropout Setpoint (DO MAG): Set this to the current (in amperes)  limit  to trigger the alarm off
  • Dropout Delay (DO DELAY): Set this to the time duration (in seconds) you want the alarm to remain triggered after going below the dropout setpoint
​​       9. Press OK after changing the settings. Press the back (the leftmost) button; to return to the SETUP MODE screen.
10. At the SETUP MODE screen, continue programming additional setup features or press the back (the leftmost) button; until you are asked to save changes.
11. Select YES to save the changes
In ION Setup:
  1. Select the "Displays only setup information" tab and double click on the Onboard Alarms/Events folder to open up the Alarm settings.
  2. Select your alarm type and click on Edit. (This example uses Current Loss in the standard alarms.
  3. Check the Enable check box and set the:
  • Setpoint Pickup: Set this to your maximum voltage (in volts) or current (in amperes) limit to trigger the alarm on.
  • Setpoint Pickup Delay: Set this to the maximum time duration (in seconds) the load is allowed to exceed the pickup setpoint before being triggered.
  • Setpoint Dropout: Set this to the voltage (in volts) or current (in amperes)  limit  to trigger the alarm off
  • Setpoint Dropout Delay: Set this to the time duration (in seconds) you want the alarm to remain triggered after going below the dropout setpoint
  • Priority: NONE/HIGH/MED/LOW
4. Select the Data log(s) you want the alarms to be logged in if applicable.
5. Click on OK to save the settings
