What does the flashing number on the Altivar 12 drive mean?

Article available in these languages: Spanish

Issue:
The ATV12 drive is not running at the reference speed and the numbers on the screen are flashing

Product line:
Altivar 12, ATV12

Environment:
n/a

Cause:
Current Limitation

Resolution:
The frequency numbers flashing on the screen mean the drive has hit the CLI, Current Limitation value.  During Current Limitation, the motor speed will slow down to keep the motor current at or below the CLI value.  If left to run in Current Limit the drive would eventually trip on overload.

If the drive is programmed to match the motor name plate information correctly, the motor is sized properly for the load, and there are no problems with the incoming power quality, then this fault is an indication that your motor has to work harder than it should for this application.  Check for any mechanical reasons that would cause your motor to worker harder than it should need to.
