Issue:
Can the Altivar Drives be connected either a 2 pole or a 4 pole motor?
Product Line:
Altivar 630
Environment:
All
Cause:
Application inquiry.
Resolution:
No, just make sure Rated Motor Speed under the simply start menu matches the asynchronous RPM listed on the motor nameplate.
A 2 pole motor will have an RPM in the 3600 range. A 4 pole will be in the 1800 range, and an 8 pole will be in the 900 rpm range.
It's part of the basic programming. NCR = Motor rated current, NSP = Motor RPM.
On the ATV212 drive, it is F415 and F417. They are NCR and NSP on the ATV12, ATV312, ATV320 and ATV340. But, they are Motor Rated current and Motor Rated Speed on the Altivar 61/71 and the Process drives. Different names but same function.
We don't have to set the number of pole pairs, we just set the listed RPM on the motor and the drive will know how many pole pairs exist already.
