How to configure Virtual ViewX to release the license after inactivity
DISCLAIMER

The example below is intended to demonstrate one or more features or methods and is presented as a configuration example only. Schneider Electric assumes no liability for the use or application of this example or any portion thereof.
It is common requirement that, when using server-based client licenses, the clients get disconnected from the server after a period of inactivity, releasing this way the license it was assigned to them.
This article will show, step by step, what to do to accomplish this on a Virtual ViewX environment, first release.
First, the Geo SCADA users must have the “Inactivity Logout” set properly, either on a per-user base (if enabled):

Or on a per-server base:

Second, run ViewX local to the Virtual ViewX Server and set the “Logout on inactivity” field (File > Options > General tab):

Click “OK” once the selection is done.

Third, the changed ViewX configuration must be copied from the current Windows user to VVXLocalUser user. Close ViewX and copy the ViewX Global Settings.dat and the ViewX Head 1 Settings.dat files from "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA" to “C:\Users\VVXLocalUser\AppData\Local\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA":

New sessions of Virtual ViewX will use the new settings.
