Can the ATV320 drives be used at high elevation?

Issue:

Customer wants to use the ATV320 at elevation over the maximum elevation listed in the Manual (1000 meters).

Altivar 320

Altitude over 1000 meters

Cause:

High elevation jobsite

Resolution:

When connected to TT/TN or IT power systems, The ATV320 products is limited at 1000m without derating in M2, M3, N4 and S6 voltage ranges.

Corner grounded systems in N4 and S6 are not compliant with IEC specifications.

The limit is 2000m for Corner grounded system in M2 and M3 versions (not allowed for N4 and S6) with derating of the current by 1% per 100 meters over 1000.

The M3 and N4 versions can go up to 3000 meters on TT/TN and IT systems with derating of the current by 1% per 100 meters over 1000.
M2 and S6 drives are not approved for this elevation and no drives are allowed on a corner grounded power system.
