What to do when download of application fails?
Problem with non-working download of application could be several. You can get a hint by the error message that ETS is giving.
Possible reasons:
Could be that a coupler in this line is not programmed yet. You always need to program the coupler first otherwise a download of devices is not possible.
Could be that the KNX coupler is having wrong physical address or mismatch between logical (in ETS project) and real (device position in network structure) physical address. In case your KNX interface for example is located logically in the main line but physically in a subline ETS might not allow the download. Solution might be either to connect the interface to a different line (according to physical address of the interface in the database) or you change the physical address of the interface in ETS.
Problem with interface could be a problem with settings of the interface in the ETS. The section of interface in ETS provides several options (use direct IP connection if available, use project connection if available).
Some years ago, KNX association reported a problem with WIN8 systems and USB interface as WIN8 is setting USB devices into sleep mode when it wasn't used of some time. But this behaviour was only seen with WIN8. KNX Association provided a tool (find attached) to avoid the sleep mode for KNX USB interfaces. At the time when this happened ETS 5 was not yet published. so I assume it should not happen with ETS5. But you might give it a try.
Problem could as well be a result of wrong physical address of the interface. If interface is located physically at a different position compared to the location where it is logically defined in ETS problems with download of application may occur (especially in combination with couplers).

Fastdownload Plug-in

Some of our devices (mostly switching and blind actuators and presence detectors) are using a plug-in software (filename is fastdownload.dll) that is being installed when inserting a device in ETS.
ETS5 and ETS6 have restrictions when using plug-ins. When inserting such devices into the catalogue this normally works well. But when inserting the device into your project ETS asks to go to compatibility mode. You must accept this compatibility mode otherwise the plug-in will not be installed, and you will not be able to insert the product into the project.
If you deny going to compatibility mode ETS will not ask you again when trying again to insert the product.
When a project is imported ETS will not install the plug-in. In such a case you could create a new project and import the product into the database and in the project. During that the plug-in is installed.
If that does not help you can try the following:
Copy the file "fastdownload.dll" (find attached) to the folder 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\EIBA sc\Baggage\100\
After that the file needs to be registered. To do that you need to execute command "regsvr32" for the file in the dedicated folder.
So full command could be (if you are on level C:\):
regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\EIBA sc\Baggage\100\fastdownload.dll

If none of the above mentioned solves the problem please contact our technical support in Your country and provide a screenshot of the ETS error message.
