The ASCO Model 160 Surge Protective Device is a 16-channel coax SPD implementing three-stage hybrid technology. The SPD addresses overvoltage transients with a primary Gas Discharge Tube (GDT), and secondary Silicon Avalanche Diode (SAD) components. Sneak and fault currents are mitigated with new solid-state resettable fuses — PTCs. The Model 160 rackmount unit is designed in accordance with NFPA 780 (2004 edition) requirements, with up to 20 kA of surge current capability.
