Issue:
Unity Pro is unable to establish a USB connection with a Momentum and an M580.
Product Line:
Momentum
M580
Environment:
Unity Pro
Resolution:
There is a common USB connection issue with the M580 where it will not allow you to connect because it does not see the controller. Not all users will experience this issue and there is a work around. If you are not able to connect, first and foremost, you must make sure that you have a healthy USB connection and that you have the PLC USB drivers installed. If all that checks out you may need to change the IP Address of the M580's network adapter. The M580 USB driver installs an unidentified Ethernet network adaptor named SE RNDIS PSX M580 Connection that can be seen when the USB connection is made between the PC and M580.
To change the IP Address navigate to your Network Settings and you will want to look at your Network Adapters. Right-click on the M580 network adapter. Select Properties then select Internet Protocol Version 4 and select Properties again. You will want to enable the 'Use the Following IP address'. Change the IP Address to 90.0.0.2 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Close all windows and now you should be able to connect to your M580.
If you are using Windows 10, you might also want to make sure that you have at least driver version 3.18 IE28.
