Capacitor inrush ( first peak) on switch ON will last for a very short duration, 1-2 miliseconds. The magnitude of the inrush current will depend on various parameters like the the system impedance, instant of switching (point on voltage wave), parallel capacitors connected to the network. Also when we use capacitor duty contactor for switching, the damping resistors will limit the magnitude of inrush current. Detuned reactors also will limit the inrush magnitude because of the impedance.
