What are the risks of associating inappropriate rating of disconnecting device with a surge arrester?
The main reasons why the disconnecting device recommended by the manufacturer should be used are:
- if the disconnecting device's rating is lower than the recommended rating, we risk the disconnecting device opening in normal operation.
- if the disconnecting device's rating is higher than the recommended rating, we risk non-disconnection during a temporary voltage surge. An overload which is too high may destroy the surge arrester.
