The Windows 7 Embedded (WES7) version is built on the same framework than Windows 7 Ultimate. So, any software compatible with a standard Windows 7 distribution will also run properly on WES7 that has been develop for critical infrastructure like ATMs, Medical Equipment and PC that controls machines on a factory. These applications does not need extra features, they need long term stability and few updates that is the proposed of the WES7 including the resource to choose the features you need in your OS.
So, a PC with Windows Embedded is compatible with EcoStruxure OPC UA Server Expert if it follows the standard requirements of the software described below:
Host PC Software Requirements
EcoStruxure™ OPC UA Server Expert can be installed on a host PC running Microsoft Windows™ 7, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2016 platforms.
NOTE:
For Windows 7 platforms, you may need to separately install Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5.
For Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2016 platforms, remote desktop services are not supported.
EcoStruxure™ OPC UA Server Expert can run on the above-referenced platforms in a virtual environment. Note that server performance in a virtual environment setting may be negatively impacted by high activity demands on the host resources, and by Ethernet adapter emulation (in a NAT system).
Host PC Hardware Requirements
EcoStruxure™ OPC UA Server Expert runs on a PC that meets the following minimum standards:
either a 32-bit or a 64-bit platform
Minimum RAM of 4 Gb (recommended 16GB)
Multicore \ multiprocessor architectures are recommended, to enable optimal runtime performance.
