  • Invites secondary school students to share ideas for addressing environmental, and social and city issues
  • Winners to receive a one-week working experience for themselves and energy audit services for their schools

Hong Kong, September 26, 2024 – Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, announced the launch of the Ignite Your Impact Challenge. This Challenge is a 7-month-long competition, designed to inspire secondary school students in Hong Kong to unleash their creativity, harness innovative technology, and utilize digital solutions to tackle sustainability issues. This Challenge underlines Schneider Electric's commitment to supporting the next generation – to nurture emerging sustainability talent, inspire future leaders, and raise student awareness of pressing environmental and social needs.

Supported by different organizations, including universities, NGOs, an industry association and a social enterprise**, the Challenge offers students a unique opportunity to receive guidance from industry leaders and knowledge experts in a collaborative environment. They will be able to develop their solutions into prototypes and present them on the Final Pitch Day.

Beyond the designated prizes, winning teams will have the chance to participate in a one-week working experience at Schneider Electric. They will also be able to display prototypes of their ideas at Schneider Electric’s 2025 Hong Kong Innovation Summit, the company’s annual flagship event, where over 800 thought leaders and industry experts gather. In addition, Schneider Electric will offer complimentary energy audit services to the winning teams’ schools to enhance their campus’ energy efficiency.

“The next generation will be crucial for our future and has the potential to make significant impact. The Ignite Your Impact Challenge aims to upskill students with technology and sustainability skills and capabilities. At Schneider Electric, we are committed to empowering the local community by nurturing young talents. We look forward to seeing them drive meaningful change through innovation and technology.” said Jonathan Chiu, President of Schneider Electric Hong Kong.

How to Apply

Registration is open from now until November 30, 2024, for teams of 1 to 4 students from secondary 1 to 5 (grades 7 to 11) from local and international schools, guided by one advising teacher.  Together, they will brainstorm and create innovative ideas and solutions to tackle pertinent issues in one of these three themes: Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Green City Impact. Industry knowledge and resources will be shared with all participating students. Shortlisted teams will be invited to meet regularly with Schneider Electric experts and receive professional guidance to prepare their pitches for the judging panel in late May 2025. The top three teams across all themes will be selected and awarded, including the teachers who participated as advisors and their respective schools.
