The performance of Report Generator (RepGen), the Excel-based reporting tool is quite a bit worse when using Excel 2016 than it was in earlier versions of Excel. For example, using the same server and the same data set, a report run in Excel 2016 took five minutes, where the same report run using Excel 2007 or Excel 2013 took under one minute.
As RepGen is near end of life, this problem will not be investigated. The recommendation is to use versions of Excel prior to Excel 2016 if optimal performance is required.
