How to operate an Altivar Process Drive with an IT or Corner Grounded System
Issue:
How to disconnect the Built-In EMC Filter for IT and Corner Grounded System for an Altivar Process Drive

Product Line:
Altivar Process Drive
(ATV630, ATV930, ATV650, ATV950, ATV660, ATV960, ATV680, ATV980)

Environment:
All serial numbers for Altivar Process Drive

Cause:
N/A

Resolution:
Operation on an IT or Corner Grounded System
IT system:
Isolated or impedance grounded neutral. Use a permanent insulation monitoring device compatible with nonlinear loads, such as an XM200 type or equivalent.
Corner grounded system:
System with one phase grounded.

Problem
The drives have a built-in EMC filter. As a result they exhibit leakage current to ground. If the leakage current creates compatibility problems with your installation (residual current device or other), then you can
reduce the leakage current by disconnecting the buit-in filter as shown below. In this configuration the product does not meet the EMC requirements according to the standard IEC 61800-3

Instructions
  • Remove the front cover.
  • The screw(s) is/are factory set to the Grounded (symbol) position, as shown on detail.
  • For operation without the built-in EMC filter, remove the screw(s) from its/ their location and set it/them to the Ungrounded (symbol) position, as shown on detail.
  • Refit the front cover.
