Please advise, for NSX, EZC and CVS , is the thermal magnetic trip unit Uncompensated or compensated thermal type ?
NSX , CVS, EZC is not compensated. For the customer it means that the tripping level is depending on the ambient temperature. By default, all ratings are given at 40°C and products are adjusted at this value by plants.
The technology of the TMD NSX (as example, CVS and EZC will be similar)  is very simple (in theory at least !). We use the “thermal” bending of a bimetal to trip a mechanical latch. To be simple, the thermal tripping at a fixed current is directly depending on the distance between the bimetal and this latch.
If ambient temperature change, distance between bimetal and mechanical latch will change (without current). So it means that the thermal tripping will be affected.
For product compensated, there is a second bimetal to compensated the variation of the distance between bimetal and the latch due to the variation of the ambient temperature.
