MiCOM P30 - restoring the default settings - cold restart procedure
What we could sort-out with cold restart procedure:
  • To apply new bay type. For devices with control functions integrated (large LCD with mimic) type of bay is defined by means of single setting: [220.000] 'MAIN   Type of bay', changing this parameter needs all inputs and outputs being available for the configuration. If some protection signals are assigned to them, device rejects new bay type. Instead releasing all required inputs one-by-one, the better solution is to use cold restart, then set bay type, then restore setting afterwards
  • Quick way to remove all configuration. When reconfiguring the device, it happens that some function are still used and function removal isn't possible. For example if 030.004 LOGIC  Fct.assignm. outp. 2  = 'DTOC  Trip signal tI>' it is not possible to remove neither LOGIC nor DTOC function group. Instead searching one-by-one all such assignments it is possible to restore default setting in one step by cold restart
  • To clear-out some important SFMON (selfmonitoring) signals. For example, the power supply unit (PSU) failure could leave in device's memory active signal [093.081] SFMON  +15V supply faulty = 'Yes'. Even with the new PSU being used,  when such SFMON signal is not valid any more, it could be still active to inform the user about detected hardware issue.
  • To clear-out mess in device's memory. With wrong grounding, device could suffer from strong electromagnetic in some unpredicted way. It could fall into status where no connection through PC interface (front port) would be possible or could have recording/logs memory unusable due to some mess within. If access by means of keys from the front panel is still possible, cold restart would help.
Warning:
  • Cold restart procedure removes all configuration from the device's memory, before applying please make sure that you have copy of the required setting file, customised bay type (if applied), customised character definition (if applied) and macros (if applied).
  • Cold restart doesn't clear the mcl configuration for IEC61850 communication!
The procedure is as follows:
1. Set device off-line.
A. It can be achieved by Easergy Studio:
Off-line activation
B. By means of keys on front panel (HMI)
  1. Go through:  Parameters > Function parameters > Global > MAIN to the parameter: [003.030] MAIN   Device on-line
  2. Push 'ENTER'
  3. Enter password (default one is: 'LEFT' > 'RIGHT' > 'UP' > 'DOWN' > 'ENTER' (LED: EDIT MODE lights on)
  4. Change value to 'No (= off)'
  5. Accept with 'ENTER' key (LED: OUT OF SERVICE lights on)
2. Execute cold restart.
This could be done from HMI only !
  1. Go through: Operation > Control and testing > MAIN > to the position [009.254] MAIN   Cold restart
  2. Push 'ENTER'
  3. Enter password (default one is: 'LEFT' > 'RIGHT' > 'UP' > 'DOWN' > 'ENTER' (LED: EDIT MODE lights on)
  4. Change value to 'EXECUTE'
  5. Accept with 'ENTER' key
3. Reset alarms
A. It can be achieved by Easergy Studio:
ALARM reset
B. By means of keys on front panel (HMI)
  1. Go through:  Operation > Control and testing > MT_RC to the parameter: [003.008] MT_RC Reset record. USER
  2. Push 'ENTER'
  3. Enter password (default one is: 'LEFT' > 'RIGHT' > 'UP' > 'DOWN' > 'ENTER' (LED: EDIT MODE lights on)
  4. Change value to 'Execute'
  5. Accept with 'ENTER' key (LED: ALARM lights off permanently)
Warning
If ALARM LED is in ON position - please read content of the monitoring record and act accordingly. Check the Technical Manual for details.
