How to recover the Firmware of a Smartlink Modbus (A9XMSB11) in case of Upgrade Failure with EPC ?
Product Line
Smartlink RS485 (A9XMSB11) only
Issue
The Smartlink is stucked in boot mode (Status LED blinking red / green) after a Firmware Upgrade fail with Ecostruxure Power Commission (EPC)
Cause of Issue
Root cause may be due to some communication issues between old Smartlink Modbus FW (1.3.5 and older) and EPC. This may happen if you upgrade SL Modbus with Serial connection.
Prevention
Always connect your Smartlink RS485 to a Smartlink SIB gateway (A9XMZA08) before any firmware upgrade.
Resolution
Smartlink Modbus module boot recovery is not possible from EPC. But there is a FW recovery procedure you can use with the former Smartlink tool "Smart Test". This tool is no more maintained / distributed since 2017 and EPC is the official tool to upgrade and commission all Smartlink devices.
Please contact your technical support to obtain the procedure to recover your Smartlink Mosbus with Smart Test.
