Environment

Cause
Audible alarms are needed in the SCADA project

Resolution
Below is the document which explains the setup for audible alarms which we followed on different projects. It was created by the SAG group.
Playing Sound (.wav file) upon a Citect Alarm

Method 1 (recommended) --- Different sound possible for each Alarm Category
PROs - (1) Can have a different .wav file for each Priority
(2) Does not require additional Cicode
(3) Works with Silence Alarms function
(4) Works on Server and Clients (Thick and Web)
CON - The sound can only be repeated in the range of 2 to 30 seconds

1. Configure Alarm with Category set:

Analog Alarms

2. Configure Alarm Category with Priority set:

Alarms
3. Compile the project.

4. In the Citect.ini file, set the .wav file and 'repeat' interval for the particular alarm Priority:

Citect ini

5. Copy the desired .wav file into the following project folder:
C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\PowerLogic SCADA 8.0 \User\PROJECT_NAME

If deploying to a Web Client:
6. Perform the Web Deployment Preparation on the server.

7. Copy the desired .wav file into the following compressed folder:
C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\PowerSCADA Expert\v8.0\User\PROJECT_NAME\webdeploy\PROJECT_NAME\misc.zip

8. Deploy the project to the desired Web Clients.

Method 2 --- Single sound for ALL alarms
PROs - (1) Simple; does not require the use of Alarm Categories
(2) The sound can be repeated at any interval (based on the event period)
(3) Works with Silence Alarms function
(4) Works on Server and Clients (Thick and Web)
CON - (1) Can NOT have a different .wav file for each Priority

1. Configure Alarms with any desired Alarm Categories (or none at all).

2. Configure Event to check for any unacknowledged alarms (then to play .wav file):

Events

Reference the name of the .wav file you want to be played.
3. Create the following Cicode function in your project:

Cicode

4. Compile the project.

5. Run the Computer Setup Wizard and make sure the event is enabled:

Event Setup

NOTE: This step MUST be followed on each computer you want sound to be heard (Server and Clients).

6. Copy the desired .wav file into the following project folder:
C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\PowerSCADA Expert\v8.0\User\PROJECT_NAME

If deploying to a Web Client:
7. Perform the Web Deployment Preparation on the server.

8. Copy the desired .wav file into the following compressed folder:
C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\PowerSCADA Expert\v8.0\User\PROJECT_NAME\webdeploy\PROJECT_NAME\misc.zip

9. Deploy the project to the desired Web Clients.
