What are the risks for the operator in event of SF6 gas leakage from RM6 cubicle?
If a leak occurs on an RM6 cubicle, almost all of the SF6 gas is replaced by air and internal electric arcing may occur.
In such a case the operator is in no danger. The RM6 is designed to withstand an internal arc, is equipped with a special LRU (internaL arc Reduction Unit) “filter” and have internal arc classification AFLR 20kA 1s as per IEC 62271-200.
A safety valve releases hot gases towards the bottom of the unit.
