How to replace a serial meter with an Ethernet meter in Power SCADA Operation (PSO) 9.0.
Issue
A serial meter in a daisy chain was removed and replaced with a new meter that is connected via Ethernet. The Power SCADA Operation (PSO) project needs to be updated for the new device to communicate.

Product Line
Power SCADA Operation 9.0

Environment
PSO Server, I/O Device Manager

Resolution
  1. Open the Power SCADA Studio application.
  2. Navigate to Topology > I/O Devices and locate the row for the device that has been physically replaced. Take note of the configuration of this device (IO Server, Name, Protocol, etc.), a screep capture would be best if possible.
  3. On the same page, open the I/O Device Manager located on the far right.
  4. In the I/O Device Manager, select the active project under Project Name. Then hit Manage a Single Device...
  5. Select Remove one I/O device and follow the steps to remove the desired device from the project. At the end, a prompt will appear to Add / remove / update more equipment, select that check box and click next.
  6. Select Create one I/O device and hit next. Choose the correct device profile for the new ethernet device. If the device profile is not in the list, it will have to be added to the project through Device Profile Editor. See FA404306 for instructions on how to add a device profile to a project.
  7. Choose the exact same Equipment Name and I/O Device Name as the device that was replaced. If the name is not the exact same syntax, then a new set of tags will be created and any graphic screens containing tags for that device will need to be changed.
  8. Select the same Primary Server (and Standby Server if applicable) as the old device and hit Next.
  9. Choose Modbus/TCP as the Communications Method. Enter the Gateway Address (IP Address of the device) and Device Address. Typically, 255 is used as the Device Address for ethernet meters.
  10. On the next page a unique Port Name will be populated. This can be changed to whatever is desired, but do not make this the same as the port name from the old device.
  11. Finish the process in the I/O Device Manager and it will add the new device to the project. Compile the project and restart the applicable I/O Server in Runtime Manager for the device to start communicating.
*Note: Make sure to update any parameters (if necessary) for the new device/port in the citect.ini or through Setup Editor*
