Machine Scada Expert Viewer.exe is unable to connect to the Run-Time

Issue:

Machine Scada Expert Viewer.exe is unable to connect to the Run-Time

Starting from v8.1 SP2, in the project settings' communication tab, the encrypted port option is enabled by default if you create a new project in order to make the projects more secure.

Product Line:

Machine Scada Expert 2020

Resolution:

AVEVA Tech Support recommends configuring the Viewer module using ViewerCfg.exe to make it connect with the encrypted port by following the Viewer.ini configuration. Remember to disable the "Force remote behavior" option. Disabling the option prevents the Viewer module from consuming thin client licenses.

Optional: In the project settings, disable the encrypted port 51234 and enable port 1234 for unencrypted communications.

To implement the recommended solution:

  1. Execute the ViewerCfg.exe file from the Bin folder that you will find in the product installation directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert 2020\Bin)
  2. When the Secure Viewer configuration window opens, keep the default settings then click Save.
  3. AVEVA Technical Support highly recommends to make the Viewer module behave as a local instance, In the Advanced settings window, uncheck the Force remote behavior option.
