What is ROHS3 and pro-active compliance? Do our products meet them?

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances, and impacts the entire electronics industry and many electrical products as well
Directive 2015/863 is known as RoHS 3. RoHS 3 extends older ROHS by adding four additional restricted substances (phthalates) to the list of previous six and this has been implemented since 22 July 2019.

Proactive Compliance refers to the best practice of applying an anticipatory and self-motivated approach towards industry regulations and compliance standards. Proactive Compliance allows organizations to mitigate risk and protect their business and their customers. Pro-active compliance is included in our ROHS certificate. If you launch product check and get certificate for selected product on https://www.se.com/ww/en/work/support/green-premium/, see example for ATV320 in attachment, you will find these 4 additional restricted substances in the list, (see highlight in following text)

.... Effective July 1st, 2006, the European Directive 2002/95/EC -“Restriction of Hazardous Substances” (RoHS), its recast 2011/65/EU of June 8th, 2011, the Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 of March 31st 2015, restrict the use in Europe in certain electrical and/or electronic equipment of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) flame retardant, and from July 22nd 2019, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).

Next, in ROHS certificate it will be mentioned pro-active compliance, though for some product certain exemption can be present. For ATV320 it is exemption 6(c), t(a), 7(c)-I
Existence of exemptions is due to difficulties in prohibit all substances at the moment for certain applications. These applications may be exempt from RoHS restriction if it is technically or scientifically impracticable to prohibit the use of certain hazardous substances at present.
Explanation for each exemption number can be found on web, e.g. 7(c)-I
