ClearSCADA Mobile installs differently depending on the version of ClearSCADA that is being used:
ClearSCADA 2015 R1 featured ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX bundled into a single feature.
ClearSCADA 2015 R2 had both ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX separated, however, the Mobile Companion still had to be tied to a Web server. Hence it was actually tied to the old We server components and was installed along with it.
Starting from ClearSCADA 2017, the total separation of the two components (ClearSCADA Mobile and WebX) was completed.
ClearSCADA Mobile needs to be upgraded after an upgrade of ClearSCADA takes place. To upgrade ClearSCADA Mobile, the following steps need to be followed:
Upgrading from ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R1 to ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R2
Upgrading from ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R2 or newer
The above steps do not need to be followed when upgrading ClearSCADA Mobile from version 2015 R2 or newer (i.e. 2017, 2017 R2). Simply run the installer from the splash screen as shown in the screen shot below

- Make a backup of your existing Mobile configuration by making a copy of the "MobileConfig.sdf" file located in "C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA Mobile"
- This file contains the license information and configuration of the systems and devices
- Keep a copy of this file in a different location in case it is needed
- Uninstall the existing version ClearSCADA Mobile from Windows Control Panel -> Programs and Features
- Please note that your Mobile configuration should stay untouched even after removing ClearSCADA Mobile as long as the MobileConfig.sdf file is present at the original location
- Launch Microsoft Internet Information Services Manager and make sure that "ClearScadaMobile" site is not present
- If the site is still present after uninstalling ClearSCADA Mobile, remove it manually by right clicking on it and selecting "Remove"
- Please note that if you are upgrading from ClearSCADA 2015 R1, the mobile site is a part of the "ClearSCADA" site
- Launch ClearSCADA installer and select "Install ClearSCADA Mobile" to install the new version of the software and follow the installation steps
- Once installed, launch ClearSCADA Mobile Configuration to make sure your original configuration is still present
Upgrading from ClearSCADA Mobile 2015 R2 or newer
The above steps do not need to be followed when upgrading ClearSCADA Mobile from version 2015 R2 or newer (i.e. 2017, 2017 R2). Simply run the installer from the splash screen as shown in the screen shot below
