  • Anna Timme appointed to iMasons Climate Accord board to help advance industry sustainability efforts.
  • Schneider Electric shares embodied carbon product documentation to advance methodology for carbon accounting.
  • Schneider Electric continues to show commitment to a sustainable data center industry.

Schneider Electric, the global leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, is pleased to announce that Anna Timme will serve on the iMasons Climate Accord (ICA) Governing Body to help advance the decarbonization strategy and provide industry-wide sustainability leadership in digital infrastructure.

Anna was selected for her unprecedented and forward-thinking approach to digital transformation, and Schneider’s focus on elevating access in underserved markets and communities.

“We believe access to energy and digital infrastructure is a basic human right. Our generation is facing an energy transition and industrial revolution catalyzed by accelerated digitization in a more electric world. Electricity is the most efficient and best vector for decarbonization; combined with circular economy approach, we will achieve climate-positive impact as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” said Anna

“The ICA represents an unprecedented collaboration between leading digital infrastructure companies to accelerate our journey to carbon neutrality,” said Dean NelsonChairman and Founder of Infrastructure Masons. “We are excited to add Anna Timme, from Schneider Electric to the leadership team.”

The iMasons Climate Accord (ICA) is a historic cooperative of over 165 companies to reduce carbon in digital infrastructure materials, products, and power, led by a Governing Body initially comprised of leaders from AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft and iMasons, and now also including Digital Realty and Schneider Electric. Members of the ICA include the owners of many of the largest digital infrastructure portfolios in the world, including over 60 colocation data center providers, and product, service and investment firms that fund, design, build and operate the physical foundation of the internet and drive its supply chain.

Furthering our ICA Commitment

To further support the ICA and sustainability progress in the data center industry, Schneider Electric has committed to sharing our Product Environmental Profiles (PEPs) with other ICA signatories. Schneider has invested extensive time and resources into establishing an extensive library of PEPs since 2008. Schneider Electric’s PEPs report detailed, third-party audited embodied carbon information, in addition to full lifecycle environmental impacts including energy use, water, and air impacts. They also deliver a substance assessment and breakdown of the constituent materials that make up the product. This complete documentation is key in enabling data center providers to accurately report their Scope 3 emissions.

Now, together ICA and Schneider Electric will undertake a project to aggregate and analyze this data to leverage it for creation of future ICA standards. Sharing this granular data on embodied carbon will enable the industry to set benchmarks and reduction goals and empower procurement professionals to make purchasing decisions in alignment with sustainability objectives.

Additionally, Schneider is ready to work with all other ICA signatories to share our processes and tips for measuring and reporting embodied carbon – so that they too can create and provide PEPs to their customers.
