After launching my new Control Expert 15.x upgrade I am prompted for username and password.

Issue

After upgrading my Unity/Control Expert to v15.x I am now prompted to enter a password when launching and on top of that a server error is reported.
In some cases it returns 'Failed to Find a Valid License' even though it is properly licensed.

Product line

Unity Pro, EcoStruxure Control Expert

Resolution

Typically this happens because you are launching Topology Manager and not Control Expert Classic.

Version 15.x installs two shortcuts, one (Control Expert Classic) launches the traditional Control Expert which will run on your previous Control Expert license and launch in the same manner as the previous Control Expert versions.

The other one (Control Expert) launches the Topology Manager which is a new feature which requires a separate license purchase. If you purchased the Topology Manager license and need to launch that, see the FAQ at this link for instructions. https://www.se.com/us/en/faqs/FAQ000234421/

If you will not be purchasing the Topology Manager, simply delete the Control Expert shortcut and use the Control Expert Classic short cut moving forward.

***** If what you see above was not your issue and you are using v15.3, see below, otherwise contact our technical support team at 888-266-8705 *****

If you see this with v15.3, user should login the Windows OS with administrator right and modify the user that is created by the Control Expert install named SecurityAdmin and in its general properties set as Password never expires
