Why is the IP address resetting to 0 when I power cycle the ATV61 or ATV71 with an Ethernet option card installed?

Issue:
IP, subnet and gateway addresses are resetting back to 0 when you power cycled the drive.

Product Line:
Altivar ATV61 and ATV71
VW3A3310d ModBus TCP/IP option card
VW3A3316 Ethernet IP option card
VW3A3320 ModBus TCP / Ethernet IP option card
VW3A3327 Profinet option card

Environment:
All

Cause:
All of the ethernet IP data is resetting back to factory default after power cycle.

Resolution:
If the drive has a logic input programmed for Forced Local, and that logic input is turned on, the drive will not allow anything to be written to the EEPROM.  This includes the IP Address, Subnet Mask and IP Main Client.
So any changes will be lost on power up.
This can also happen if the IP Mode is not set to Fixed and the BootP or DHCP server is not available.

In Menu 1.9 [Communication menu]

  1. Check to see if Forced Local Assign is set to a Logic input.  If it is, make sure that input is turned off.
  2. Under the Communication card menu check that the IP Mode (IPN) =Fixed
