Reassigning VIP Logged Data in Power Monitoring Expert
Issue
When using the Virtual ION Processor to log data, often times the data is logged as a custom quantity under the VIP node name. This can cause problems when creating dashboards, or running reports that look for specific quantity ID's in the ION databases.

Environment
PME Designer

Cause
The issue is caused by VIP programming that does not follow the Default Measurement Name@Group.Source format when labeling quantities to be logged.
It will be necessary to reassign the existing data to a default quantity ID and a source name other than the VIP in order for these to work.

Resolution
*Warning: Irreparable database damage can occur. This procedure should only be performed by users familiar with SQL Server Management Studio. Databases should be backed up prior to performing this procedure.*

Note: This procedure will reassign a single custom quantity logged under the VIP node.

1) Take a backup of the ION_Data database.
2) Open the VIP in PME Designer and find the module containing the custom quantity label to be reassigned.
3) Rename the label using the Default Measurement Name@Group.Source format.

Note: See FA233509 for a list of all Default Measurement Labels

4) Save the changes and exit Designer.

Once designer is closed, all new data will be logged under the source and measurement named in Step 3.
Now we need to reassign all the historical data to the new source and measurement.

5) Open the attached SQL query in SQL Management Studio
6) Replace 'Replace_With_New_Device_Name' with the Group.Source from Step 4. (do not delete the quotes)
7) Replace 'Replace_With_VIP_Name' with the name of the VIP. (do not delete the quotes)
8) Replace 'Default_Measurement_Name' with the Default Measurement Name from Step 4. (do not delete the quotes)
9) Replace 'Custom_Measurement_Name' with the old measurement name. (do not delete the quotes)
10) Execute the SQL statement

Note: Any Vista diagrams, reports, dashboards, ect. that were linked to the old source and measurement names will need to be re-linked to the new source and measurement.
