Video: Data Center Expert | How do I configure the network settings?
Issue:
Network settings configuration on a StruxureWare Data Center Expert Appliance.

Product Line:
InfraStruXure Central (ISXC)
StruxureWare Central (SWC)
StruxureWare Data Center Expert (DCE)

Environment:
InfraStruXure Central (all versions)
StruxureWare Central (all versions)
StruxureWare Data Center Expert (all versions)

Cause:
Upon initial setup, DCE requires that the network settings (IP Address, Subnet mask, Gateway, DNS Servers, and Hostname) are defined to be able to communicate on a network.

Resolution:

NOTE: Editing the Network Settings will cause the StruxureWare Data Center Expert Appliance to reboot.
NOTE: By design, network settings for Data Center Expert must be statically set.  DHCP is NOT supported.

Configuration of Network Settings on the DCE Virtual Appliance (7.0 and later):
NOTE:
These steps can be used to change the network information after first-setup, but some steps may be different, including the password needed to login in step 2.
1) Open the console of the virtual machine.
2) In the console view, log in using the following credentials:
Username: apcsetup
Password: apcsetup
3) When prompted, update the password for the apcsetup account.
NOTE: Please keep a secure record of this for future use.
3) When Prompted and within 5 seconds, press enter to change settings.
4) Press M to modify the settings.
5) Set the default client/web administrator account credentials.  These will be used to log in to the Data Center Expert application and web interface.
6) Press enter on the changing the apcsetup account password, as this was setup in step 3.
7) If desired to change the apcinfo account password, type y [enter], otherwise hit [enter] to accept the default value of no.
NOTE: The apcinfo account is used to display network settings only (DCE version, MAC, IP Address, hostname, DNS, etc.).
8) If desired, enable y [enter] or disable n [enter] SSH.  SSH can be turned on in the client, or in the apcsetup login if ever needed.
9) Follow the prompts to specify the IP Address, hostname, subnet mask, and DNS servers for the virtual appliance.
5) After the virtual appliance has restarted, type its IP Address or hostname [DNS entries required] into a browser.  You can then download and log into the DCE Client.

First Configuration of Network Settings on the DCE Physical Appliance (7.0 and later):
NOTE:
These steps can be used to change the network information after first-setup, but some steps may be different, including the password needed to login in step 2.
1) Provide power, connect the server to the network, and turn on the DCE Virtual Appliance.
2) Connect a keyboard and monitor to the server.
3) Log into the console using the following credentials:
Username: apcsetup
Password: apcsetup
4) When prompted, update the password for the apcsetup account.
NOTE: Please keep a secure record of this for future use.
5) When Prompted and within 5 seconds, press enter to change settings.
6) Press M to modify the settings.
7) Set the default client/web administrator account credentials.  These will be used to log in to the Data Center Expert application and web interface.
8) Press enter on the changing the apcsetup account password, as this was setup in step 4.
9) If desired to change the apcinfo account password, type y [enter], otherwise hit [enter] to accept the default value of no.
NOTE: The apcinfo account is used to display network settings only (DCE version, MAC, IP Address, hostname, DNS, etc.).
10) If desired, enable y [enter] or disable n [enter] SSH.  SSH can be turned on in the client, or in the apcsetup login if ever needed.
11) Follow the prompts to specify the IP Address, hostname, subnet mask, and DNS servers for the virtual appliance.
12) After the virtual appliance has restarted, type its IP Address or hostname [DNS entries required] into a browser.  You can then download and log into the DCE Client.

Editing Network Settings after Configuration:
NOTE: The steps listed above work for editing the network settings, in addition to the steps listed below:
1) Download and log into the DCE Client software using administrator credentials.
2) Navigate to the System Menu > Server Administration Settings > Network Settings.
3) Make the necessary changes to the network settings and then press Apply and OK.
4) Once the appliance reboots, the server should be accessible with by using the new network settings.

Alternative method for All Versions (including versions prior to 7.X):
NOTE:
This will only work for a virtual appliance if a second network interface is configured for the DCE virtual appliance.
1) Connect a computer to the second network interface (GB2) port on the appliance.
2) Configure the computer for DHCP so that it can receive an IP address from the appliance.
3) The default gateway that is assigned to your computer from the DHCP server is the IP address of the appliance.
To find the default gateway, open a command prompt > ipconfig/all > Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection > Default Gateway.
4) Navigate to the Default Gateway by entering the IP address in a web browser.  The DCE web interface should load if everything is configured correctly.
5) Follow the steps from the Editing Network Settings after Configuration listed above ensuring to use the Default Gateway as the IP address to enter into the appliance. Please note that earlier versions of StruxureWare may have a slightly different menu structure.

After initial login with apcsetup, our setup prompts require the change and creation of crucial system accounts. Below are the default credentials that are required to configure new user credentials. Based on software versions, you may be prompted to change them.  Please note that the apcreset password you set will be the ONLY recovery option in the event of lost or forgotten credentials.  Password requirements are 8 characters, one upper, one lower, one number, one special character.

NOTE: Please keep a secure record of this for future use.

If prompted, here are the initial configuration passwords.
Username: apcsetup
Password: apcsetup

Username: apcinfo
Password: apcinfo

Username: apcreset
Password: (7.9.2)= apc | (7.9.3 and above)= apcreset
