What are the Dynamic Load ratings and Shipping Load ratings for NetShelter CX cabinets?
Issue:
Persons planning data centers need to know how much weight can be loaded into the NetShelter CX for static installation, dynamic installation (rolling on flat surface) or to ship loaded with equipment.

Product Line:
NetShelter CX

Environment:
All versions and serial ranges.

Cause:
A customer wants to load the cabinet and move it, or ship it.

Resolution:

Static Load Weight Rating is the maximum weight of the cabinet, plus installed equipment (with the feet locked), in it's final location.

Dynamic Load is often confused with Shipping Load. These two ratings are different and care should be taken to distinguish between them.

Dynamic Load Weight Rating is the maximum rolling load of the cabinet. This is the maximum allowable weight of equipment installed in the cabinet during movement from one location to another within the same data center. This assumes level flooring on a smooth surface. Carpet is not a smooth surface.
In conjunction with the cabinet rating, the applicable ratings of any raised floor or other flooring installed in the data center should not be exceeded.
Example: a customer who wishes to move a cabinet from one row to another in a data center must remove equipment until the weight is equal to (or below) the Dynamic Load Rating before being moved.

Shipping Load Weight Rating is the maximum allowable weight of equipment installed in the cabinet during any shipping process where the cabinet is to be moved outside the data center. Shipping cabinets with equipment installed requires the use of a special cabinet with heavy duty shock packaging. Shock packaging is required to ship a cabinet with installed equipment. Shock packaging contains a cushioned pallet designed to absorb some of the impact forces experienced during the shipping process (truck or rail vibration and impact). This packaging has undergone rigorous testing to ensure safe transport.
