How to move a Geo SCADA database from one server to another
Sometimes a need arises to move a Geo SCADA database from one server to another. The information below might become helpful when transferring a standalone database onto another server. For simplicity, the original server that hosts the database is referred to as "Old" and the server where the database is to be moved to is referred to as "New".
The following needs to take place to move a Geo SCADA database from Old server to New server:
1. On New server, install the same version of Geo SCADA or newer and install the same Geo SCADA drivers and components.
2. License Geo SCADA on New server.
3. Start up New server without the database and match server configuration with Old server by comparing configuration settings in the Server Configuration utility.
4. Perform a database backup on Old server. Make sure Old server is shutdown during the backup. Please refer to the following FAQ for assistance with backing up the database.
5. Transfer the database backup from Old server to New server and restore the backup on New server. Please refer to the following FAQ for assistance with restoring the database.
6. Shutdown Geo SCADA on Old server and startup up Geo SCADA on New server. Make sure Geo SCADA is completely shutdown on Old server before starting Geo SCADA on New server.
