Why Control-Expert shows a wrong information displaying a forced bit is present in my M580 application ?
Question :
Why Control-Expert (all versions) shows a wrong information displaying a forced bit is present in my M580 application ?
  • the "F" information is highlighted in status bar of Control Expert,
  • "FORCED BITS" shows 1,
  • %SW108 shows 1,
  • But, when clicking on "F", the animation table for the forced bits is empty (not consistent with other information above)
forcing diagnose
Answer :
  1. Issue : When deleting in connected mode a structure in which a forced bit is set, the system may forget to delete the corresponding forced bit information ("F" displayed in status bar, %SW108 and "FORCED BITS" counter in  PLC Screen not decremented)

For example, this situation can appear if the user :
  • Example 1 : is making a change config on the fly, deleting a digital module and its corresponding Device DDT, on which at least a channel was forced
  • Example 2 : is reducing, in online mode, the number of items of an array of EBOOL (from  "array[0..10] of EBOOL" to "array[0..5] of EBOOL") and there was a forced bit enabled on one of deleted EBOOL ("array[8]" for example)
  1. Product line : M580 Processors programmed with Control Expert
  1. Workaround : Before to remove in connected mode some parameters from an application, please, check and verify that there is no "forced" bit enabled. If yes, remove, previously to make the "build change", the forcing values.
