The default Modbus mapping has 4 categories of registers: Binary Input, Binary Output, Analog Outputs, & Analog Inputs. Each one of this categories is associated with its own function code.
Below are the function codes to use for each category and all the function codes for the ADVC Controller supported and not supported:
Note: Attached is the Modbus protocol technical Manual for the ADVC Controller.
2. Select Modbus port:
The Advanced Controller has 8 communications ports, 7 of which can be selected & configured for transmission of MODBUS messages (the USB port is dedicated to WSOS5 only).
3. Assign Modbus Port:
MODBUS is assigned via the flexVUE panel after selecting the MENU key and using the arrow keys to navigate to:
→ ENGINEER MENU →TELEMETRY MENU
→ CONFIG COMMS →MODBUS MENU →MBUS COMMS →PORT
OR via WSOS 5:
Select Display → Switchgear Communications → Protocols → MODBUS → MODBUS Communications Configuration, and mouse-click in the Switchgear Port field
● Enter password CAPM, and select Port required and click OK.
4. Configure Port Settings:
Via flexVUE panel:
● Select ENGINEER MENU → TELEMETRY MENU → CONFIG PORTS MENU → RS232-PORT-C
● Cycle through each available setting and apply the required setting
via WSOS:
● Select Display → Switchgear Communications → Ports → Port Configuration
● Input / select values as required to configure the port for MODBUS communications
5. Configure Modbus Settings:
Via flexVUE panel:
● Select ENGINEER MENU → TELEMETRY MENU → CONFIG COMMS MENU → MBUS MENU
● Cycle through each sub-group, and the available settings in each sub-group and apply the required settings
● Press the SELECT key to enter edit mode, and use the up and down arrows to change settings, and then press the SELECT key again to save the change.
Via WSOS 5:
● Select Display → Switchgear Communications → Protocols → MODBUS → MODBUS Communications Configuration, and mouse-click in the Switchgear Port field
●Enter password 'CAPM'.
●In each of the MODBUS screens, input / select values to configure settings as required. The Modbus Map may be configured from this window
