How do I change the color of a status object in Vista diagrams?
Issue
Customer might want to use something other than the default Red Green Yellow status offer as the default for status objects

Power Monitoring

Cause
The status object does not use a .BNP image for the indicator. Customer can supply their own image or they can modify the diagram file to their liking.

Resolution
The Status object is HTML code that gets inserted into the device diagram file when you create a status object.
To change the default status's of the object from ON=Green , Off= Red we can modify the HTML for the object.

Prior to making changes, please close any instances of Vista.
Warning: Take backups of any files prior to modifying them. Ensure the backups are in a location that will not be overwritten (i.e. the Desktop).

1. Using a text editor such as notepad, Open the diagram that contains the object we want to switch the color of.
2. Using CTRL+F search for the name of the status object created in Vista. I find it helpful when creating objects in Vista, to name it something easy to search for instead of using default names.
3. Once we have located the object name look for the line similar to
<StatusItem item_color_off="#00ff00" item_color_on="#ff0000">
4. In this example I will switch the default colors by swapping the HTML code for color_off and color-on
<StatusItem item_color_off="#ff0000" item_color_on="#00ff00">
You can also use any color desired by using the appropriate HTML code for that color.
5. Once the changes have been made click file and save.

6. Reopen your diagram in Visa, and the new colors will be active.

You may need to refresh any web pages that have this diagram open for the changes to be reflected.
