EMC plate is optional. It is designed to meet European EMC standard.
EMC plate is used for noise filtering so, that other devices will not be affected by VSD.
So, according to EMC guidelines, it is recommended to use the shielded cable to meet EMC standard.
And if un-shielded cable is used, there will be very less filtering of noise and then it does not meet the EMC standard.
