SVN Commit failed because of the error message 'No lock token available'. What is the root cause and how to solve it?

When the SVN gives the message that no lock tokens available, then it means that the SVN server has the lock information for the file but there is no relevant client who is known as the owner of lock.

If you lock a file in SVN, the SVN server creates a lock token for this file. The lock token holds information about the user and the specific working copy. The owner of a lock is therefore a specific user and a specific working copy.

The error occurs when a file is locked and the owner (user or working copy) is deleted without releasing the lock.

In order to solve the issue, you have to steal the lock for the file (Right click on file->Subversion->Steal lock...). Afterwards you can release the lock again and continue working.

Remark: SVN cleanup only fixes issues which are related to the working copy. Therefore it cannot solve the issue.
