What would be the recommended cable size for connecting a dynamic braking resistor?
Issue:
Are there recommended cable sizes for connecting a dynamic braking resistor?

Product Line:
Altivar 930

Environment:
All models and serial numbers

Cause:
NA

Resolution:
When sizing the cable to be connected between the drive and the braking resistor, it is simply a matter of taking the drive's Max DC bus voltage level and dividing it by the brake resistor value to determine the current through the resistor.
I(amps) = V(volts) / R(ohms)
The bus voltage divided by the ohm rating of the resistor will give you the maximum current draw. Also, when the circuit is very noisy, it is best to use shielded cable if you have noise concerns.
