Issue:
What is the normal DC Bus Voltage measurement when powering an ATV320 via the DC Bus instead of using single phase supply?
Product Line:
ATV320
Environment:
DC Bus
Cause:
Input Power Supply
Resolution:
On a 460v system, the normal bus voltage is around 650 V dc while it is running and 680 V dc before it is running.
For 230v drives that would be around 340v dc.
A DC voltage above 720 V may cause the drive to trip on overvoltage on power up.
760 V dc is above where the braking transistor would be pulsed, if it were used.
Although some people have powered these drives by dc, this voltage seems a bit high. Also, UL has not evaluated drives for being powered by the dc bus, so we cannot recommend this.
