What are the coil voltage codes used for contactors and relays?

Article available in these languages: Korean, Dutch

Schneider Electric Industrial Control (Previously Telemecanique) voltage codes are a 2 character code added to the end of a part number. The first character indicates the voltage, the second indicates the frequency.

Here are some of the most common coil voltage codes:

1st Character2nd Character
B (24V)5 (50Hz)
F (110V)6 (60Hz)
P (230V)7 (50/60Hz)
U (240v)D (DC)
V (400V)
N (415V)

For example:

BD = 24V DC
F7 = 110V AC 50/60Hz etc

Most AC coils currently offered are "7", 50/60Hz. P7 and V7 refers to 230VAC and 400VAC. These voltages are the European Standard voltages for single and three phase supplies. In reality, actual generated voltages have remained the same - mainland Europe & the Irish Republic standard supply is still 220V AC/380V AC 50Hz, UK is still 240V AC/415V AC 50Hz. It is the standard which has been modified to suit both sets of voltages.

Consequently, any piece of equipment which is rated at 230V AC must be suitable for use at both 220V AC at the the lower end and 240V AC at the upper end. Equipment rated 400V must be suitable for use at 380 to 415V AC.

220V and 380V AC coils (M and Q) are optimised for use at actual mainland European voltages, as are 240 and 415VAC coils (U and N) optimised for use with UK voltages of 240/415VAC

Examples of how these codes are used:

1) Motor Contactor 9A AC3 with a 110V AC 50/60Hz Coil

LC1D09F7
F = 110V
7 = 50/60Hz

2) Miniature Plug-in Relay 6A 4 C/O contacts 24V AC with LED

RXM4AB2B7
B = 24V
7 = 50/60Hz

3) Zelio compact smart relay Zelio Logic - 12 I O - clock - display - Powered by 24 V DC

SR2B121BD
B = 24V
D = DC

Note: Beside the traditional coils mentioned above, some of our contactors can also have Electronic coils. One of the advantages of the Electronic coils is that instead of having a specific coil voltage you will have a range instead.

Common electronic coil codes will be:

BNE - 24-60V AC/DC
EHE - 48-130V AC/DC
KUE - 100-250V AC/DC
