How can I distinguish thermal from magnetic faults when using GV2ME, GV2P, GV2L and GV2LE?

Using a GVAM11 combined with a GVAD10xx, it is possible to distinguish between thermal and and magnetic faults.

If there is no fault:

  • GVAM11: contact 05-06 is closed and contact 05-08 is open
  • GVAD10xx: fault contact 97-98 is open
  • No LED is lit

If there is a magnetic fault:

  • GVAM11: contact 05-06 is open and contact 05-08 is closed
  • GVAD10xx: fault contact 97-98 is closed
  • The short-circuit LED is lit, and the trip LED is off

If there is a thermal fault

  • GVAM11: contact 05-06 is closed and contact 05-08 is open
  • GVAD10xx: fault contact 97-98 is closed
  • The trip LED is lit, and the short-circuit LED is off

Test for correct operation

The instantaneous auxiliary contact test is performed by creating a state of transition of the handle actuator between the de-energised position and the energised position.
The fault contact test is performed by pressing the test button when the handle actuator is in the closed position.
