If printing is a known requirement for Unity Pro Project Logic, then here are some tips that may help.

  • Plan for the need to print and...

    • Choose a page size for printing before creating any logic

    • Test the printing of all Unity Pro Languages to determine the settings required to achieve optimized desired results

    • Use a single and common Number of Columns for all LD Sections in the Project

      • Use the Unity Pro Project Settings to fix the Column Size of LD Sections

      • Comments can be added to rows to serve as page break guides

    • Create FBD Section logic with regards to the page size and page breaks

      • Comments can be added to FBD Sections to serve as page break guides

      • it is recommended to use the Standard FBD Column and Row settings

    • The Number of Columns in SFC Sections must be managed to the test determined limit by the user

  • Keep in mind the following...

    • Unity Pro only prints the occupied Columns and Rows used in FBD, LD and SFC Sections

    • Printing to Paper vs. Files has different final result expectations

      • Printing to Paper

        • Achieving acceptable results when printing FBD, LD and SFC Sections will most likely require the use of page sizes larger than 8.5x11

      • Printing to Files

        • Optimized results may require a variety of page sizes

        • Searching for Text content is expected

    • All of this takes time and is most likely not as simple as just clicking Print

The Microsoft XPS Document Writer is a recommended printer for printing in Unity Pro.  The XPS Document Writer is standard printer installed with Windows.

Here are some testing results from printing to the XPS Document Writer.
