Why does EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic v15.3 ask me to log in?
Whenever you launch EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic v15.3, a Username and Password prompt appears.

There are three possible reasons why EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic v15.3 is asking for a username and password.

Reason 1:
The SecurityAdmin profile was not properly created after installation.

Before performing the following steps, ensure the logged in user has Administrator privileges.
  1. Search Computer Management in the start menu (Run as Administrator)
  2. Expand the System Tools
  3. Expand the Local Users and Groups
  4. Click 'Users'
  5. Click 'Actions'
  6. Click 'New Users...'
    1. User name: SecurityAdmin
    2. Full name: SecurityAdmin
    3. Description: Schneider Electric user for M580 - User created
    4. Password: Strong password
      1. Default password: Azertyuiop12!
    5. Confirm Password: re-enter strong password
  7. Unselect 'user must change password at next login'
  8. Select 'Password never expires'
  9. Click 'Create'
  10. Click 'Groups'
  11. Double click 'Users'
  12. Click 'Add'
  13. Enter SecurityAdmin
  14. Click 'Check Name'
  15. Click 'OK'
  16. Click 'Apply' and 'Ok'
  17. Double click 'SchneiderElectricCSUsers'
  18. Click 'Add'
  19. Enter SecurityAdmin
  20. Click 'Check Name'
  21. Click 'OK'
  22. Click 'Apply' and 'Ok'
  23. Search Services in start menu (Run as Administrator)
  24. Double click on SecurityServices
  25. Click 'Log on' tab
  26. Enter the password used in step 6.4
  27. Click 'Ok'
  28. Click on 'Start'
  29. Perform steps in detailed in Reason 3
  30. Restart PC

Reason 2:
The default password for the SecurityAdmin profile has expired.

Before performing the following steps, ensure the logged in user has Administrator privileges.
  1. Search Computer Management in the start menu (Run as Administrator)
  2. Expand the System Tools
  3. Expand the Local Users and Groups
  4. Click on 'Users'
  5. Double click on SecurityAdmin
  6. Check the box for 'Password never expiries'
  7. Click 'Apply'
  8. Click 'OK'

Launch EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic

Reason 3:
SecurityAdmin profile is not part of the 'Log on as a service' policy. This may be due to local IT removing SecurityAdmin from the 'Log on as a service' policy.

Before performing the following steps, ensure the logged in user has Administrator privileges.
  1. Search 'Edit group policy' in the start menu
  2. Expand the Computer Configuration
  3. Expand the Windows Settings
  4. Expand the Security Settings
  5. Expand the Local Policies
  6. Click on User Rights Assignment
  7. Double click on Log on as a service
  8. Click 'Add User or Group'
  9. In the text box enter SecurityAdmin
  10. Click 'Check Names'
  11. Click 'OK'
  12. Click 'Apply'
  13. Click 'OK'
  14. Restart PC

Launch EcoStruxure Control Expert Classic

Reason 4:
PC does not have Local Users and Groups Management Console.

Use a 3rd party tool, such as lusrmgr.exe, to enable the Local Users and Groups Management Console. Once the Local Users and Groups Management Console is enabled and available, re-install EcoStruxure Control Expert. If issue persists follow steps detailed in Reasons 1-3.

Reason 5:
There is an inconsistency in the security database, please contact Support for ControlExpert_V153_HF007 installation.
