Rack PDU Switched Outlet Behavior After a Power Outage

Issue:
What would the Rack PDU Switched Outlet Behavior After a Power Outage

Product Line:
Switched Rack PDU, Metered By Outlet with Switching Rack PDUs

Resolution:
APC Rack Power Distribution Units with switched outlets are by default going to turn on if the rack PDU is power cycled or if in the event that it regains power after a power loss (i.e. unplugged, inadequate power input). This will be regardless of the state of the outlet. Meaning, if an end user powers down an outlet on an APC Switched Rack PDU, it will by default, turn on the outlet the moment it reboots.

APC by Schneider Electric understands that some loads may be too sensitive to power fluctuations and that end users may prefer them to stay off at times the above mentioned events do happen. This is why our APC Switched Rack PDU's has options to change this behavior if there is such a need.

  • On AP79XX on firmware 3.X.X and on AP89XX on firmware 5.X.X, one can do the following :

  • Wait :  This will turn on the outlet after a power cycle but with a delay in seconds
  • Never Power UP : Selecting this will keep the outlet in an off position when the Rack PDU is power cycled
