Recycling Options

APC by Schneider Electric Recycling and Take-Back Programmes

Discarded electronic equipment is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the industrialized world, due to the growing use of these products. Effective collection, reuse and recycling systems ensure that this discarded equipment does not overwhelm our landfills and other waste management systems. You can help reduce electronic wastes and protect the environment by making responsible decisions when your electronic products reach their end-of-life. To help, APC by Schneider Electric offers environmentally sound product take back and recycling programs to our consumer and business customers in many countries around the world.

United Kingdom: Sustainable Options
We welcome you to our Sustainable Management Options site. Below you will find information on our regional recycling program and the options we provide to upgrade to a new product, replace your old battery, or recycle old products in a responsible way.

Option 1: Replacement Battery Cartridges (RBC)

When you purchase an APC RBC, we will take back your old battery free of charge. Just follow the instructions that accompany the new battery.

If you are a household consumer, then you may use the established battery collection system in your country. This may require you to ship or drop the battery off at a location specified by the collection service used within your country. APC by Schneider Electric has contracted Veolia Environmental to manage battery collection for business customers. If you wish to arrange for the collection and treatment of batteries; please contact the APC by Schneider Electric Customer Care Center.

Option 2: Recycle Your Products

Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) contains materials, components and substances that may be hazardous and present a risk to human health and the environment when waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is not handled correctly. Equipment marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin is electrical and electronic equipment. The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol indicates that waste electrical and electronic equipment should not be discarded together with unseparated household waste, but must be collected separately.

Schneider Electric, who manufacture APC and Schneider Electric products, is a registered producer for both Household (B2C) and B2B Professional (B2B) use equipment in the UK.

Batteries and Accumulators
The EU Battery directive 2006/66/EC places restriction on certain on certain chemical in batteries, additionally it also require financing the environmentally sound treatment of batteries as the end of lie. Batteries are marked with the crossed out wheelie bin. This indicates that thee batteries should not be discarded together with unseparated household waste, but must be collected separately. Battery Recycling

Portable Batteries
If you have end of life portable batteries these can be recycled at a variety of locations throughout the UK. You can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com

Industrial Batteries
As a producer of industrial batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we Schneider Electric IT UK Limited produce Industrial Lead acid and Lithium Ion batteries. We are obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to an end user for treatment and recycling. We are required to do this in any calendar year we place new industrial batteries on the market. If any of our customers or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact Schneider Electric at Customer Support directly 0800 2799254. We will agree the necessary arrangements for the return, proper treatment and recycling of the waste industrial batteries.
