Where can information regarding the electrical losses (in watts) of a Low Voltage Dry Type Transformer be obtained?
Issue:
Losses for Low Voltage Dry Type Transformers
Product Line:
LV Transformers
Environment:
Applies to Dry Type Transformers by SquareD/Schneider Electric
Cause:
Transformers always entail some heat loss in normal use
Resolution:
Loss information including core loss (no load) and full load coil loss (I^2R) can be obtained from LVGP Product Marketing/Support. The sum of the core loss and full load coil loss is the total loss of the Transformer. If the total loss of the Transformer are known, then the heat contribution at full load can be obtained by multiplying the loss in watts time 3.414 to yield BTU/hr. If the information is critical, it should be requested each time from Product Marketing/Support as Transformer designs are subject to change without notice. Some EE type Energy Efficient Transformers have losses in Watts listed in document 7400DB0702 attached below.
