When must an EZM Main Device be Center Mounted within a Meter Center lineup?

Connection of EZM equipment requires center mounting of the main device.

Resolution:
One function of an EZM Main is to provide overcurrent protection for the horizontal cross bus of the connected EZM Branch units. Depending on the device, EZM Branch units have either 800A continuous or 1200A continuous horizontal cross bus. If the rating of the EZM Main is greater than the rating of the EZM Branch unit horizontal cross bus, then the EZM Main must be center mounted. EZ Meter-Pak Metering Equipment is UL Listed (File: E-131840 as Modular-Panelboards), and part of this UL Listing includes the Center Mounting issue associated with EZM Mains as follows:

• 1000 and 1200 A main disconnect or terminal box must be center mounted when used with branch devices with main bus rated 800 A continuous.
• 1600 A main disconnect or terminal box must be center mounted.
• 2000 A main disconnect must be center mounted and requires use of branch units having 1200 A continuous horizontal cross bus.
