Can the Model 98 Temperature Controller be removed from the transformer without de-energizing the transformer?
Issue:
Field removing the Model 98 temperature controller without de-energizing the transformer.
Product Line:
Medium Voltage Transformers
Environment:
Working on live electrical equipment.
Cause:
Product design specification.
Resolution:
The Model 98 and Model 98A are not removable without de-energizing the XFMR. Even with the power to the controller disconnected, there is a safety issue (possible shorted thermocouple). The thermocouples are located in the LV windings and connected to the controller. Additionally, it is a violation of company safety policies to work on energized equipment.
